The Female Pharaoh

Course Summary: Hatshepsut has long attracted interest and fascination as a rare example of a female pharaoh in dynastic Egypt.  This course will explore the reign of Hatshepsut with an emphasis on her art and extensive building programme as we look for clues that allow us to understand what was different about the years of her regency and co-regency with Thutmose III in comparison to her predecessors and successors. 

When: Wednesdays 2-4pm from Wednesday Wed 3rd June 2020 for 5 weeks

Biography

John BillmanJohn Billman is an experienced Egyptology tutor having taught classes for the continuing education department of Oxford University (OUDCE), the WEA and TVAES. John leads tours to Egypt and excavates in Thebes with the South Asasif Conservation Project. John is Chairman of the Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society and the South Asasif Conservation Trust.
