This online (Zoom) course forms the first 5 weeks of a 20 week course on the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt.

We will review selective events, monuments and artefacts from Early Dynastic Egypt that pave the way for the Old Kingdom before reviewing the 3rd Dynasty in detail including the Step Pyramid Complex of Djoser and contemporary monuments and attestations.

Biography

John BillmanJohn Billman is an experienced Egyptology tutor having taught classes for the continuing education department of Oxford University (OUDCE), the WEA and TVAES. John leads tours to Egypt and excavates in Thebes with the South Asasif Conservation Project. John is Chairman of the Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society and the South Asasif Conservation Trust.
